Public Health Nursing

Division Responsibilities & Services
The Health Department employs a public health nurse that is available to the residents of the township to help them attain and maintain their optimum level of wellness. This is accomplished in many ways by a variety of services including:
  • Conducting home visits to residents that are home-bound
  • Following up on all communicable diseases in the township
  • Helping residents develop a plan to improve their health
  • Holding various clinics that are available to the residents
  • Immunizing audits in all public and private schools and child care centers
  • Making available to the residents one on one consultation on a variety of issues
  • Offering flu shots - Flu shots are available for those 65 years and older or 18 years to 65 years with a chronic illness (illness requires a doctor’s note)
  • Performing adult health screenings (SMAC) - Chem 23 blood tests include cholesterol levels and risk factors, fecal occult blood screening and blood pressure screening
