Duties and Responsibilities of the Engineering Department include the following:

 

·        Engineering, Planning, Design, and Permitting of roadway, drainage, storm water quality, sanitary sewer and water main improvement projects.

·        Assist Township Residents and Prospective Residents – At window or by telephone regarding:

·        Utility Availability

·        Drainage Questions/Complaints

·        Infrastructure Improvements

·        Provide technical and engineering assistance to all municipal departments, the Environmental Commission, and coordinate technical data with outside agencies, (i.e., NJDOT, NJDEP, MCMUA).

·        Prepare resolutions for bond releases and for bidding purposes

·        Various grant applications including NJDOT Local Aid, TEA-21, NJDEP, and Morris County CDBG.

·        Provide Disclosure Act responses to all public inquiries.

·        Provide water allocations and coordinate Township approval of sewer allocations.

·        Environmental Reporting: provide information to inquiries related to floodplains, wetlands, etc.

·        Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) improvements.

·        Provide continuous inspections of approved subdivisions, site plans and general development projects.

·        Prepare Request for Proposals for Professional Surveying and Engineering Services for various infrastructure improvements.

·        Planning and Zoning Board Reviews – review and provide comments and recommendations, prepare cost estimates, bond estimates, pro-rata share calculations, water and sewer connection fees, and assist in preparing Developer’s Agreements.

·        Report Monthly Escrow for Engineers and Inspectors to Finance Department

·        Investigate soil moving violations.

·        Issue and inspect right-of-way excavation permits and soil removal permits.

·        Provide copies of tax maps.

·        Update Township Street, water and sewer maps and standard details.

·        Compile and evaluate water system usage and pumping data.

·        Provide sewer capacity assurance data to NJDEP.

·        Provide GPS Monumentation data upon request.

·        Right-of-Way Excavation Permits                                       Fee:  $100.00

·        Minor Soil Permits  (Residents and Contractors)             Fee:  $50.00
