Spring 2015 Programs and Activities:

Girls Softball
Roxbury Baseball/Softball Association 2015 Spring Softball Registration is coming to a close on 3/31/2015:  We have expanded our program by now including local play with surrounding towns .  Mt. Olive, Long Valley Chester along with Roxbury will now play in a local travel/recreation league.

  • Farm:  Grades  K-1.   Instructional league.  Coach pitched league, after 4 pitches a tee is used.  Bases are 35-40 feet.   7-8 kids per team.
  • Rookie division:  Grades 2-3  still Instructional league .  Half coach, half girls pitched.  Hitters Runner can only advance 2 bases if the ball hits the outfield grass other than that its 1 base a t a time.  no walking, if a batter is walked then  a coach  steps in.  strikeouts count and 3 outs end an inning.  7-9 kids per team. 
  • Minors division: Grades 4—5  girls pitch, umpires and  they play regular softball rules. Stealing 3rd base is allowed, no advancing on an over throw. 
  • Majors division:  Grades 6,7,8,9 Regular Softball play.

Roxbury Egg Hunt

The annual Egg Hunt and E.B. visit is coming soon to Horseshoe Lake on Saturday, April 4th at 10am! Over 2,000 eggs will be hidden! Egg hunts are for ages 3-5 and 6-9; bring a basket to carry the eggs. Bring  a camera for pics with E.B. too! Find the sparkly egg for a grand prize. Hunt is planned for Imagination Station Playground for the 6-9 age group, and the Horseshoe Lake Baseball Field for the 3-5 age group.

Roxbury Travel and Rec Spring Soccer
Registration for the Spring 2015 season is now open online at www.roxburysoccer.com. Registration is open to all children currently in K - 8th grade. Register now through Feb 13th for Travel and In-Town. Mites registration closes April 5th.  Fee for Travel and In-Town is $85, Mites (Kindergarten) is $40.  Email  with any questions.

Mini Mites Soccer
FREE program offered by the Roxbury Soccer Club for 4 year olds just starting to learn soccer. Sessions will be held for six weeks, starting in April. Each session is one hour. Program is open to children age 4 as of April 6th and not attending Kindergarten. More info on flyer. Visitwww.roxburysoccer.com to register. 


Girls Volleyball Clinics

Two clinics will be offered at the Roxbury High School Gym, 4:30pm-5:45pm on the following dates:
  • 5th/6th Grade-Mondays, April 13th, April 20th , April 27th , May 4th, May 11th, May 18th
  • 7th/8th Grade-Wednesdays, April 15th, April 22nd, April 29th , May 6th, May 13th, May 20th
First four sessions of each clinic will be skills and drills, and the last two sessions will be for competitive play. The instructor will be Roxbury High School’s Varsity Coach Beth Grasso, along with Assistant Coach Anthony McMichael.  Please register online or in-person at the Recreation Office.  Program is open to residents and non-residents. Fee:  $70, includes t-shirt.

Gymnastics Inc.
Roxbury Recreation is sponsoring classes! Four levels are offered: Mommy-N-Me for ages 2-3 1/2 , Gymnastics Class for ages 3-5, Rhymthmic Gymnastics for ages 3-5 and 6+, and Back Handspring Class for ages 8+. Roxbury Recreation’s classes are April 13th-May 23rd for a total of six weeks. Fee: $115. Please register by calling 973-252-4300; more info on flyer.

Gym Ninja for Boys
This program is specifically designed to be packed with activities and fun for boys between the age of 7 and 12.  We combine skills and drills from parkour, martial arts, acrobatics, and general strength and conditioning.  It is a great foundation for the development of coordination and strength as well as tons of fun! Tuesday classes begin on April 14th for six weeks, 7pm-8pm. Register at Gymnastics Inc. by calling 973-252-4300. Classes will take place at 80 North Dell Avenue, Unit 17, Kenvil. Fee: $115.

RHA Stream Clean-Up at Drakes Brook

On Saturday, April 18th, Raritan Headwaters Association and Roxbury Environmental Commission are looking for volunteers to help with trash removal at the steam site. Layups for Life 'Hoop It Up' Tournament
Join in for a fun afternoon of basketball along with food, contests, raffles, silent auction and more! For boys and girls ages 15+; all skill levels welcome! Sunday, April 19, 2015 at the Roxbury High School. More info on flyer.

Arbor Day Tree Giveaway
On Friday, April 24, 2015, residents will be able to pick up tree seedlings at Roxbury Recreation between 9am-4pm, and the DPW Building between 9am-12pm. Roxbury Recreation is located at 72 Eyland Ave, Succasunna; DPW is located at 96 Dell Avenue, Kenvil. Seedlings, available on a first come, first served basis, also come with instructions on how to store, care for, and plant them. New Jersey Tree Recovery Campaign aims to replace trees lost in Superstorm Sandy.


Lake Hopatcong Block Party
Save the date for the 2nd annual party at Lake Hopatcong State Park, planned for Saturday, May 9th, rain or shine! Lake demonstrations, local bands, local businesses and organizations, food vendors, children's area, antiques and crafts, local artists, 50/50 raffle, and more! Summer 2015 Programs and Activities:

Teen Travel 2015-Openings in Session 4!
This exciting program is open to all Roxbury and Mount Arlington children who are currently in 6th through 9th grade.  Four sessions are offered, from July 6th through 31st, and each session is five days long. (Sessions 1 and 3 are full.) The camp hours are 8:30am to 4:30pm.  Each week is filled with fun daily adventures to places such as Branchburg Sports Complex, Turtleback Zoo TreeTop Aerial Adventure, Camelbeach Waterpark, and more!  For details on each session, view flyer by clicking Teen Travel 2015. Online registration begins Saturday, February 7th; in-person registration begins Monday, February 9th, at the Recreation Office. Fee:  $225 per participant per session, t-shirt included.  Early Morning Drop-Off, 7:30am-8:30am, $35 per session. Total fee per session, $260 per child. Registration is available online as a total package.

Playground Program 2015
This fun 5-week program is offered to Roxbury and Mt. Arlington kids who are currently in K-7th grade. There are three locations to choose from: Jefferson School, Kennedy School or Nixon School. Program begins on Thursday, June 25th and goes through Friday, July 31st (no program on July 2&3). Hours are 9am-12 noon. Registration begins online beginning Monday, March 2nd at 6am. Goal to Goal Soccer Training Camp
Boys and girls presently in 4th-8th grade are eligible for this camp. The ultimate purpose of this camp will be to train each player to better understand and meet the responsibilities as a team member. Technical and tactical functional training will enhance each individual's ability. Staff includes Roxbury High School Head Coach Gary Irwin, as well as RHS coaches and players. Camp is Monday, June 29th -Thursday, July 2nd, 5pm-7pm at the Roxbury High School Complex. For registration and additional information, click flyerFee:  $85; includes camp t-shirt. 

Boys Basketball Camp
Each day, campers will participate in skills stations, skill competitions, team play and lectures on basketball fundamentals and sportsmanship.  Basketball skills and fundamentals will be stressed for each age group. Staff includes Roxbury High School Boys Basketball coaches and current Roxbury High School players.  Guest speakers include local high school and college coaches. Register by attached form only; no on-line registration.
-Boys presently in K-1 grade: Camp dates are July 13-15, 9am-11am at RHS Gym. Fee: $40 per participant; includes t-shirt. For more info and registration form, click K-1 BBall.
-Boys presently in 2-4 grade: Camp dates are June 26, 29-July 1, 8:30am-12:30pm at RHS Gym.  Fee: $75 per participant, 2nd child $60; includes t-shirt.  For more info and registration form, click 2-4 BBall.
-Boys presently in 5-8 grade:  Camp dates are July 6-10, 8:30am-2:30pm at RHS Gym.  Fee:  $120 per participant, 2nd child $95; includes t-shirt. For more info and registration form, click 5-8 BBall.

Wrestling Camp
This camp is designed to teach the fundamentals of wrestling at a pace suitable for a young child. Interactive games and drills will be introduced to develop balance and agility necessary for wrestling. Camp runs Monday, July 20th through Thursday, July 23rd, 8:30am-11:30am, at Roxbury High School Auxiliary Gym.  Children entering 2nd-8th grade in September are eligible.  Coaches include Jim Dolan, Head Wrestling Coach at RHS, plus David Monaco, Assistant Wrestling Coach at RHS.  Register online or in-person at the Recreation Office. Jr. Gaels Fundamental Baseball Camp
Boys entering 4th through 9th grade in September are eligible for this camp. Campers will receive instruction in the following areas: hitting, infield play, outfield play, pitching, catching, form running, team concepts, and scrimmage games.
     - 4th-6th grade: June 29-July 2, 9am-1pm
     - 7th-9th grade: July 13-16 or July 27-30, 9am-1pm
Roxbury High School's Varsity Baseball Coach Greg Trotter runs the camp, along with current members of the Roxbury Assistant Coaching Staff, and former Roxbury players. For additional info and registration form, please click Baseball Camp. Fee: $125; $225 for brothers.

Field Hockey Camp
For girls presently in 4th-7th grade. Dates are Monday, July 13th through Thursday, July 16th, 5pm-7pm at Roxbury High School Turf Field. This camp serves as an introduction to the game, basic skills, rules, positions, and game play. Campers will enjoy individual and team skill stations and will experience exposure to game-like settings. Open to Roxbury and non-Roxbury residents. Pony Camps-July
Two camps are offered in July! Each are four days, beginning Monday, July 20th through Thursday, July 23rd at Horseshoe Lake.
  • For ages 3-6, a Petite Equestrian Program is open 1pm-2:30pm. Fee: $190. 
  • For ages 7-13, a Pony Grooming & Riding Program is open 2:45pm-4:45pm. Fee: $230.

Lego Camp
Lego-inspired engineering classes for kids in K-6th grade. Camp week is August 17-21 at the Horseshoe Lake Recreation Teen Center. Pre-Engineering Camp is for K-2nd grade, 9am-12pm. FUNdamentals of Engineering Camp is for 3rd-6th grade, 1pm-4pm. Fee: $145; register at www.play-well.org. More info on flyer.

Roxbury 5K Race
Register now for Monday, June 1st's race through Succasunna. Race day registration begins at 5pm at Eisenhower Middle School; race starts 7pm. Hosted by a non-profit organization and net proceeds to go Roxbury HS Project Graduation, Roxbury Fire Dept., First Aid Squad, Roxbury Social Services, Roxbury DayCare Center, and Kiwanis Scholarship Fund. Tennis Camp
Coach Miller is offering his 2nd annual summer camp during the month of July in weekly sessions. Camps range in ages from 5-8 and 9-11, plus Middle and High School Camps. Please visit www.roxbury.org/tennis for more info and to register.

Tennis Lessons
Lessons are offered for kids, beginners and advanced students, ages 8-16. Lessons begin on June 23rd and are offered one week only; register now! Please visit www.roxbury.org/tennisharlan for more information and schedule.

Pony Camp-August
A half-day pony camp is offered for children age 9 and up. Daily riding time includes a riding lesson, lunging session, Equisthenics lesson, a harness driving session or a mini trail ride. Other non-riding activities are also included. Dates are Monday, August 3rd through Thursday, August 6th, 1pm-4:30pm, at Horseshoe Lake. More info on registration form. Fee: $290.

Day Camp 2015-All Sessions are now full
This fun program is open to all Roxbury and Mount Arlington children who are currently in 1st through 6th grade.  Day Camp is held at the Roxbury Recreation Center at Horseshoe Lake from June 25th through August 14th (no camp on July2&3), and each session is five days long. Hours 8:30am to 4:30pm.  Some trips are planned; for more information on offerings for each week, view flyer by clicking Day Camp 2015.  Fee: $185 per participant per session, includes t-shirt. Early Morning Drop-Off, 7:30am-8:30am, $35 per session. Total fee per session, $220 per child. 

Camp Capra 2015-All Sessions are now full
This fun and enthusiastic camp is open to Roxbury and Mt. Arlington children currently in K-7th grade. Choose from six sessions; each session is one week long. Sessions begin on July 6th, and run through August 14th. Enjoy games, arts & crafts, field trips and water games with Mr. Capra, a 6th grade Roxbury teacher. Location: Lincoln-Roosevelt School Gym.
