Open Public Meeting Statement
Notice is hereby given that a Special Neighborhood Meeting
of the Township Council of the Township of Roxbury will be held on October 20,
2009 at 7:00 PM at Company No. 2 Annex, Shippenport Road. This meeting is being held for the purpose of
general discussion with Township residents.
Adequate notice of this meeting of the Township Council of
the Township of Roxbury was given as required by the Open Public Meetings Act
as follows: Notice was faxed to the
Daily Record, the Newark Star Ledger and the Roxbury Register on December 17,
2008; notice was posted on the bulletin board in the main hallway of the
Municipal Building on December 17, 2008.
Roll Call: Councilman
Gary Behrens, Richard Zoschak, Tim Smith, Fred Hall and Deputy Mayor Jim Rilee.
Absent: Mayor Kathy
DeFillippo, who was attending the Roxbury Woman's Club 50th
Anniversary meeting & Councilman Martin Schmidt
Christopher Raths, Township Manager; BettyLou DeCroce, Township Clerk;
Rick Blood, DPW Director.
Deputy Mayor Rilee gave an introduction to the public as to
the format of the meeting.
Deputy Mayor Rilee and the Governing Body recognized fire
and emergency squad personnel at the Town Hall Meeting. Company #1 Fire ? Kyle Filipow;
EMS- Susan Cunningham ? Company #2 Fire-Robert Rossi; EMS Jonathon Romeo ? Fire
Company #3 Fire ? Carol Little; EMS ? Kathy Zeek-Voelker. They were honored for outstanding attributes
that they provide as Volunteers to the Township of Roxbury.
Mr. Raths Township Manager went over the current ?To Do
List? in the township of projects already completed for 2009 and projects
anticipated for 2009. Mr. Raths further
discussed the firehouse annex extension of several bays, with an office. The
Port Morris Annex will be weather tight.
Mr. Raths discussed the McNear site ? eastside Landing Road and
further discussed that the township negotiated with the county for a grant in
the amount of $450,000.
Rick Blood, Assistant DPW Director went over the paving
projects that are on the schedule for completion this year.
Councilman Zoschak discussed the current status on Lake
Hopatcong and the fees being discussed by the commission. Councilman Zoschak does not support the fee structure.
Councilman Smith gave a detailed history on the canal in
Landing and the importance of the grant monies to purchase this final piece.
Deputy Mayor Rilee discussed in detail COAH and the current
status of the township with the state.
Mr. Rilee stated that Roxbury has been one of the top towns in the state
to be proactive and addressing our requirement with COAH.
Public discussed with council all issues brought up and
added their input.
At 9:20 PM Mr. Hall made a motion to adjourn the
Neighborhood Meeting. Mr. Zoschak
seconded the motion.
