Roxbury Day of Service to Honor our 9/11 Heroes
Save the date! Saturday, September 17, 2016 at 8am; check in at Roxbury Public Works Building, 96 North Dell Ave., Kenvil. Come together to honor heroes of 9/11 by giving back to community. Help with projects such as assisting with food drive, cleaning up parks, help senior/disabled neighbor, etc. Individuals, groups, and families are welcome to volunteer, ages 5+. Cross Country-Reduced Fee!
Join the program to 'Go The Distance' and have fun while running. Must be 7 years old by December 31, 2016, or have been on the XC team last year. Birth year must be 2009 or earlier. First practice is Monday, August 29th, 6pm, at the Horseshoe Lake Pavilion. Program runs through mid-November. More info on flyer. Please register online or in-person at Roxbury Recreation. Fee: $50; includes t-shirt.
This program is for children age 5-8 as of December 1, 2016. It includes learning the fundamentals of flag football, no experience necessary. The program will be held on Monday and Wednesday evenings beginning September 7th at the Horseshoe Lake fields, 6pm-7:15pm. Please register online or in-person at Rec Office. Fee: $50; includes NFL Jersey.
Registration is now open for travel, in-town, Mighty Mites and Mini Mites for boys and girls in Pre-K through 8th grade. The travel and in-town programs are for children in 1st-8st grades. Fee for both program is $85. Online registration will close for travel and in-town on July 23rd; players registering after this date will be charged a $25 late fee. The Mighty Mites program is for Kindergartners; fee is $40. Mini Mites are for Pre-K; Fee is $30. Registration for the Mites programs will close on September 10th. This program is for girls going into 5th through 8th grade and is designed to introduce girls to the sport of volleyball. Volleyball will be held twice per week on Mondays, Tuesdays, and/or Thursdays. Each session is one hour, and scheduled between 5:45pm and 9pm. Locations will be in either Lincoln Roosevelt Gym, Horseshoe Lake Gym, or Eisenhower School Gym; a schedule will be provided. The session begins in mid-September and runs through mid-November. Volunteers are needed for coaches! Please register online through Community Pass or in-person at the Recreation Office. Fee is $65, includes t-shirt.
irls Softball Clinic
Coached by professional coaches from Jump Start Sports, this program is for K-8th grade, broken down into four divisions. Players will receive instruction in all basics of the sport, and will apply what they have learned in fun scrimmages. The games will be non-competitive and no score will be kept. Players who are not able to hit a pitched ball will be able to use a tee while learning. Each session includes instruction and game play. Program begins on Monday, September 12th at Landing Park. Please register at www.jumpstartsports.com. Fee: $85, includes t-shirt and athletic headband.
Roxbury T-Birds T-Ball
Players ages 3-5 learn the basics of throwing, catching, fielding, batting, and base running, and then apply what they have learned in fun, non-competitive games. Sessions are one hour long, one day per week, and include all instruction and game play in one outing. Program begins Friday, September 16th, 5:30pm-6:30pm, and runs through October 21st. Girls on the Run
So much fun for girls in 3rd-5th grade! Program inspires girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running.Season begins in mid-September, and goes for 10 weeks at Horseshoe Lake. More info on flyer.
Register your team now! Program runs on Wednesday nights, starting on September 14th, for 10 weeks at Eisenhower Middle School Gym. Teams must have a minimum of 6 players, ages 19 and up.Register by August 31st. Please contact Lisa Gibney at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information. Fee: $165 per team.
Roxbury Senior Softball
Batting practice and pick-up games only, for ages 60+. No fees, no registration…just show up at Horseshoe Lake’s Field E. Thursdays now through October 27th, 9:30am to 1pm. Roxbury residents get priority. More info on flyer.
Fitness class incorporates country music and dance, and can burn up to 1,000 calories per class! Thursday classes going on now through September 22nd at the Horseshoe Lake Pavilion. More info and dates on flyer. Drop-in rate of $10 per class.
