Roxbury Memorial Day Parade

 
Register now to be a part of the parade! The parade will be held on Monday, May 30th; your organization is invited to participate to honor the men and women who gave their lives and for those still unaccounted for. Country Fit

  
New fitness class incorporates country music and dance, and can burn up to 1,000 calories per class!  Classes are on Thursdays beginning May 26, 4:45pm-5:45pm. Eight sessions for $64. More info on flyer. Drop-in rate of $10 per class.

Free Jr. Gaels Football Skills and Drills Clinic


Open to all who are currently in 2nd-7th grade, and either currently a Jr. Gael or are interested in becoming one. Dates are June 2 and June 16, 6pm-8pm at the Emmans Road Field. For questions, please email Nadia DeChristofano at nadiade13@gmail.com

Girls Lacrosse Clinic


Join Instructor Debbie Shulkowski and RHS lacrosse players for a six-session skills camp. This program is for girls currently in 1st-5th grade. Camp will take place on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays starting Friday, June 3rd through Wednesday, June 15th, 4:30pm-5:30pm, at the Roxbury High School turf field. Every participant will receive a choice of lacrosse stick or goggles. Please register online or in-person at Roxbury Recreation. Fee: $50, includes t-shirt.

T-Ball Clinic


This program is for children ages 4-5, and is designed to teach the fundamentals of baseball and to have fun! Four sessions, June 13-16; hours are 5pm-6pm at Roxbury High School's Varsity Baseball Field. (Rain location is Horseshoe Lake Gym.) Coach Greg Trotter, RHS's Varsity Baseball Coach is the instructor. Register online or in-person at the Rec Office. Fee: $40; includes t-shirt.

Roxbury 5K


Family Night at the Races is planned for Monday, June 13, 2016 at 7pm. Packet pick-up and race day registration starts at 5pm in the Eisenhower Middle School Gym. Pre-register, and receive a discount. More info on flyer, or visit www.roxbury5k.com.  

Color Fun Run 2016


Wear a white t-shirt and walk, jog or run around Horseshoe Lake through color stations, turning your t-shirt into a rainbow of colors! Run is on Sunday, June 19th beginning at 9am. Open to all ages, tickets are $25 and can be purchased at Color Fun Run. Free race t-shirt to first 400 registrants. Proceeds help with medical costs for Mia Salazar and Francesca Ventola. Food, entertainment, and lots of color powder. NOT A TIMED EVENT; approximately 3 miles.

Fisherman's Lane Fishing Derby


The 22nd annual derby in memory of Marc Brandon and Kevin Gilmer will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at Horseshoe Lake, 8am-10am. No fee or badge required. Bring your own bait and pole. The lake will be freshly stocked the night before! Prizes will be awarded in each group for the first fish caught, plus 1st, 2nd and 3rd place according to weight in these age groups: 3-5, 6-9, 10-12, and 13-18. Co-sponsored by the Roxbury Recreation Department.

Playground Program 2016


For children currently in K-7th grade, Roxbury and Mt. Arlington residents only. This fun five-week program begins on Monday, June 27th and goes through Friday, July 29th, 9am-12pm. Two locations still have openings: Jefferson School and Nixon School. Lots of fun activities, including Ice Cream Day, Movie Day, Gymnastics Inc., T-Shirt Day, Horseshoe Lake Field Day, games, arts & crafts, and special events. Registration is open online and in-person at the Rec Office. Fee: $125 per participant, t-shirt included.

Roxbury Racers Swim Team

 
This summer recreational swim team consists of members up to 18 years of age. The team philosophy is to teach swimmers the fundamentals of competitive swimming, improve technique, build team spirit, and most importantly to make swimming fun. All swimmers must be members of Horseshoe lake. New members are required to try out for the team. Register in-person only at Roxbury Recreation. Special Saturday hours are on Saturday, May 21, 10am-12pm. More info in packet.

Annual Wiffleball Tournament


Register now for Saturday, July 16, 2016 tournament, starting at 9am at Horseshoe Lake Baseball Field. Support Roxbury PBA Local 311’s efforts to fundraise for 15-yr old Mia Salazar, diagnosed with cancer by registering your team for this fun event. Boys Basketball Camps


Join Roxbury High School Coach Joe Ansaldi and current Roxbury high school players for this fun camp. Basketball skills, rules, fundamentals and concepts will be taught, along with age-appropriate basketball games and activities. For boys entering K-1st grade in September 2016, a three-day camp begins on July 5th; fee is $40. For boys entering 2nd-4th grade in September 2016, a four-day camp begins on June 27th; fee is $75. For boys entering 5th-9th grade in September 2016, a four and 1/2 day camp begins on July 11th; fee is $120. Click links for registration flyer and more info.

Girls Basketball Camp


This camp is for girls entering 3rd-8th grade in September 2016. Staff includes RHS Girls Basketball Head Coach, Jessica Trotter, along with  current RHS players. Basketball skills and fundamentals will be stressed for each age group, and participants will participate in skills stations, competitions, team play and lectures on basketball fundamentals and sportsmanship. Camp for 3rd-5th graders is on July 11-14, and for 6-8 graders is July 18-21. Camp takes place 9am-2pm at Lincoln Roosevelt School. Wrestling Camp


This camp is designed to teach participants the fundamentals of wrestling at a pace suitable for a young child.Camp is for students entering 2nd through 8th grade in September 2016. Interactive games and drills will be introduced to help young wrestlers develop the balance and agility necessary for wrestling.  Camp dates are Monday July 18th through Thursday, July 21st, 8:30am-11:30am at the Roxbury High School Auxiliary Gym. Camp Directors are Jim Dolan, RHS Head Coach, and David Monaco, RHS Assistant Coach, along with members of the high school wrestling team. Click on flyer for registration form and more info. Minecraft Engineering with LEGO Camps


Bring Minecraft to life with LEGO! Resourcefulness, creativity, and cooperation come together in this unique building adventure game. Roll the dice to mine for resources, craft tools, and watch out for Creepers. Two camps offered for August 15-19th at Horseshoe Lake's Teen Center. Minecraft Build Adventure Game is for ages 5-7; 9am-12pm. Minecraft build Survival Game is for ages 7-12; 1pm-4pm. More info on flyer. Register at www.play-well.org. Fee: $145. 

Jr Gaels Cheerleading and PomPoms


Cheerleading is for girls currently in 2nd through 7th grade, and the fee is $65. PomPoms are for 1st graders, and the fee is $50. Practice begins on August 9th, and is held on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, 5:30pm-8pm at Horseshoe Lake Complex through September 1st. Register in-person only on Thursday, April 7th, 6:30pm-8pm at the Rec Office. Cheer Camp is offered August 1st through August 4th, 4pm-8pm, at Jefferson School; fee is $65.

FALL 2016 PROGRAMS & ACTIVITIES:

 

Jr. Gaels Football


Program is for boys entering 3rd-8th grade in September. Practice will start on August 1st, and held on Mondays through Thursdays throughout August. Games will begin in September and run through early November. Register online or in-person at Rec Office. Flag Football


This program is for children age 5-8 as of December 1, 2016. It includes learning the fundamentals of flag football, no experience necessary. The program will be held on Monday and Wednesday evenings beginning August 22nd at the Horseshoe Lake fields, 6pm-7:15pm. Coaches needed too! Please register online or in-person at Rec Office. Fee: $50, includes NFL Jersey.
