An Exchange of Information for Youth Football


The Roxbury Jr. Gaels Football Program invites prospective and current youth football players to this exchange of information meeting on Thursday, April 27th, 7pm-9pm in the Roxbury High School Cafeteria. Guest speakers Dr. Joelle Rehberg and Dr Robb Rehberg will present their insights regarding the benefits of participating in youth football. A Q&A session will follow, moderated by Coach Cosmo Lorusso. More info on flyer

Boys Basketball Skill Builder & Shooting Clinic


This clinic is geared toward players who are serious about improving their basketball skills. Each player will participate in drills that will work on their ball handling, passing, and shooting skills. Particular attention will be paid to developing shooting technique and game-like shooting drills. Due to the emphasis placed on individual instruction each session is limited to 15 players. Clinic will be run by Roxbury High School Boys’ Basketball Head Coach Joe Ansaldi and staff. Session 1- Grades 5 & 6: May 1, 8, 15, 22- 6pm-7pm; Session 2- Grades 7 & 8: May 1, 8, 15, 22- 7pm- 8pm. Location: Roxbury High School Gym. Girls

Basketball Skills & Drills Clinic


Clinic dates are May 15, 16, 22 and 23, at Lincoln Roosevelt Gym. Time for grades 3-5, 6pm-7pm; Grades 6-8, 7:15pm-8:15pm. Staff includes RHS Varsity Coach Jessica Trotter and team. More info on flyerFee: $40.

Girls Volleyball Clinics


Learn to spike, set, pass serve dig and block with RHS coaches and former players at the Roxbury High School Gym. Clinic for 3rd/4th grade girls begins 5/17 for 4 sessions; fee: $50. Clinic for 5th/6th grade girls begins on 4/11 for 5 sessions; fee: $65. Clinic for 7th/8th grade girls begins 4/12 for 5 sessions; fee: $65.

Stream Clean-Up at Black River Park

Join the Environmental Committee and Trails Committee to clean up this beautiful, scenic park. Ramsey Outdoor will be there with canoes for residents to use, to help collect trash from the pond's banks. Register for Saturday, April 22nd, 9am-12pm, at lack River Park, Main Street, Succasunna. Help to keep these waters trash-free! Register by April 4th to be guaranteed clean-up supplies. Free Trees!

Stop by the Recreation Office on Monday, May 1, 2017 between 10am-3pm to pick up free saplings. Free seedlings will be available to residents as part of the New Jersey Tree Recovery Campaign. Seedlings, available on a first come, first served basis, also come with instructions on how to store, care for, and plant them. More information on flyer

Document Shredding


The Roxbury High School Ice Hockey Association is sponsoring a document shredding event at Horseshoe Lake's front parking area on Saturday, May 13th, 10am-2pm. Cost is a donation to support RHS Ice Hockey.

Taste of Roxbury


The 11th annual Taste of Roxbury is Monday, May 22nd from 6:30-8:30pm at the Roxbury High School, 1 Bryant Drive, Succasunna.  Experience the wide variety of food our area has to offer.  Eat your way through many different restaurants, all in one place, for only a fraction of what a night out would normally cost.  Talk to the owners, pick up giveaways, sample foods from places you’ve never been to and visit your favorites.  Proceeds go back to the community through scholarships, sponsorships, Social Services and more.  Tickets must be purchased in advance.  Tickets are $25 each and available at the Roxbury Recreation Dept, Fulton Bank in Succasunna or online at http://RoxburyNJChamber.org/taste.  Beverages will be available for purchase.  Participating Restaurant list and ticket sale information is at http://RoxburyNJChamber.org/taste.

SUMMER 2017 PROGRAMS & ACTIVITIES:

Playground Program


This fun 5-week program is offered to Roxbury and Mt. Arlington kids who are currently in K-7th grade. Registration will start online on Saturday, March 4th at 6am; camps fill up quickly! There are three locations to choose from: Jefferson School, Kennedy School or Nixon School. Program begins on Monday, June 26th and goes through Friday, July 28th (no program on July 3 or 4). Hours are 9am-12 noon. Register online through your Community Pass account. More info on flyer. Fee: $125 per participant; t-shirt included.

Camp Capra-Sessions 1 through 4 still have openings!


Registration will start for Camp Capra online on Saturday, March 4th at 6am; sessions fill up quickly! This program is for children currently in K-5th grade, Roxbury and Mt. Arlington residents only. There are four weekly sessions with openings: June 26, July 10, July 17, and July 24, and all sessions are 9am-3pm. This program is directed by Bob Capra, a 7th grade Roxbury teacher. The camp's location is at Lincoln-Roosevelt School Gym. Each day includes fun, safe games, arts & crafts, local field trips, and outdoor activities. More info on flyer. Teen Travel-Sessions 3 & 4 have openings!


For tweens and teens presently in 6th through 9th grade who are looking for some fun and excitement with friends during the summer. There are two sessions with openings: July 17-21 and July 24-28. Each day includes a different trip, like Great Wolf Lodge, Jenkinson's Beach and Boardwalk, and Six Flags Hurricane Harbor, to name a few!  Camp hours are 8:30am-4:30pm. Register now through your Community Pass account, or at the Rec Office. Fee is $225 per participant, per session (t-shirt included). More info on flyer

Boys Basketball Camps

 
Three levels of camps are offered for different age groups. All camps are run by Coach Joe Ansaldi, RHS Boys Basketball Coach. For boys entering K-1st grade in September, three-day camp begins July 5; fee: $40. For boys entering 2nd-4th grade in September, four-day camp begins June 26th; fee: $75. For boys entering 5th-9th grade in September, two separate camp weeks are offered, each are 4.5 day programs: Session 1 starts July 10th, and Session 2 starts July 17th. Fee: $120 for first registration; $95 for each additional registration. T-shirt included for all camps. Check registration forms for more info: K-1st, 2nd-4th, 5th-9th

Wrestling Camp


This camp is for kids entering grades 2-8 in September, and is designed to teach participants the fundamentals of wrestling at a pace suitable for a young child. Dates are Monday, July 17th-Thursday, July 20th, 9am-1pm in the Eisenhower Middle School Cafeteria. Interactive games and drills will be introduced to help young wrestlers develop the balance and agility necessary for wrestling. Most importantly, campers will be grouped according to weight and experience to ensure the best match-ups.  Each group will have counselors to teach, guide, and direct them in the essential wrestling skills needed to be successful in the sport. Lego Summer Camp-Ages 5 to 6


Intro to STEM using LEGO Camp is August 14,-18, 9:00am - 12:00pm in the Teen Center at Roxbury Recreation.  Tap into your imagination with tens of thousands of LEGO® parts! Build engineer designed projects such as Boats, Snowmobiles, Catapults, and Merry-Go-Rounds. Then use special pieces to create your own unique design! New and returning students can explore the endless creative possibilities of the LEGO® building system with the guidance of an experienced Play-Well instructor. Registration info on flyer. STEM Challenge using LEGO Camp-Ages 7 to 12

 
This camp is August 14-18, 1:00pm - 4:00pm in the Teen Center at Roxbury Recreation. Power on your engineering skills with Play-Well TEKnologies and tens of thousands of LEGO® parts! Apply real-world concepts in physics, engineering, and architecture through engineer designed projects such as Catapults, Pneumatic Cranes, Arch Bridges, and Battletracks! Design and build as never before, and explore your craziest ideas in a supportive environment. An experienced instructor will challenge new and returning students to engineer at the next level. Day Camp-all sessions full at this time


All Roxbury and Mt. Arlington 1st through 6th graders are invited to register for this fun camp, held at the Roxbury Recreation Center and Horseshoe Lake Complex. There are seven sessions to choose, from June 26 to August 11th. Hours are 8:30am-4:30pm. Included in the camp are daily activities such as sports, games, arts & crafts, plus special trip dates to destinations like Tomahawk Lake, Mountain Creek, and Turtleback Zoo.  Fee: $185 per participant, per week (t-shirt included). Jr. Gaels Football


For boys entering in 3rd through 8th grade as of September 2017. Practice will begin in August, and will be held Mondays through Thursdays throughout August. Games will begin in September, and run through early November. Registration opens on March 20th online and in-person at Roxbury Recreation. Deadline is June 17, 2017. Helmet, shoulder pads and uniform included; please supply football cleats (no screw-in cleats allowed). For additional information, please view flyer. Fee: $125; $250 for two children, $300 family max.
